Job Resume
Professor Qu, Liangsheng was born in 17, March 1931. From 1948 to 1952, he studied in Jiaotong University, Shanghai and then continued his postgraduate study in Harbin University of Technology until 1955. He was Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Xian Jiaotong University and is now the professor and doctor student advisor both in mechanical engineering branch and instrument science and technology branch. He also concurrently holds the professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University and National Defense University of Science and Technology. In 1991, he was awarded as an advanced worker in the field of science and technology and as a model worker in national educational circles. In 2003, he was elected as the academician, Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Academy and Scientific Findings
Professor Qu has taken up fundamental and creative researches in the fields of quality assurance of mechanical products, mechanical signal processing, measurement and diagnostics over the years. His opinion 'Diagnosis is a multi-disciplinary fused technology based on the machine theory and information theory. Its essence is pattern recognition' is widespread among colleagues. The holospectrum principle he originated, according to which the amplitude, frequency and phase information of machine vibration signals are integrated together, effectively increases the diagnostic certainty of machine faults. A further research project based on this principle is the holospectral balancing technique of flexible rotor systems. This project was prolonged for more than ten years. It is closely related to the frontier technologies, possesses independent intellectual property and can effectively improve the quality and efficiency of conventional rotor balancing processes. This achievement was obtained the award from the Ministry of Education in 2002 and the Chinese national award of technological invention in 2003. The on-line surveillance and diagnostic network for multi-machine-set developed by him and his colleagues possesses on-line forecasting, remote and intelligent diagnostic capabilities. The Ministry of Science and Technology has two times assigned it to be the nationwide key extending project. He applied and developed the mechanical signal processing methods to extract fault features in engine noise successfully, to uncover the mechanism of machine sound pleasantness and to improve the transmission accuracy of precise machine products. The Ministry of Mechanical Industry and The Ministry of Electronic Industry awarded these activities accordingly.
Professor Qu has obtained two national awards, 13 provincial or ministerial awards, and 6 authorized national patents of invention. He has published 214 technical papers and 3 books. As the editor-in-chief, he has also edited a book series consisting of 15 books on machinery diagnostics. Due to correct diagnosis of machine faults and bringing obvious advantages to the factories, he enjoys great prestige among the technicians in Chinese enterprises. As the doctor student advisor both in mechanical engineering branch and instrument science and technology branch, he has developed 42 doctor students and 53 master students.
